Maria Hartmann
Maria Mercedes Ulloa was born in Antioquia, Colombia. She lived most of her life in Bogotá where she started showing her artistic talents and excellent taste in decoration and gastronomy; decorating tables and salons for special events and creative desserts, cakes, and exclusive dishes in her restaurant.
She is certified as a librarian, and holds a bachelors degree in children pedagogy. In 2005 she started her studies in Bogotá at the “Academy of Arts of Gerardo Rueda”, where she studied the technique of Taracea and other skills under the instruction of Marthica Bonilla. Her artwork consists mostly in wood inlay, in which she is very creative with the use of many different and selected woods and grecas.
The artist opened her own workshop in Bogotá, where along with all the materials and a lot of love gave life to her work. In 2006 Maria had her first exhibition at the Gallery of Gerardo Rueda, followed by a National Television to exhibit her Artwork.
In 2006, Maria moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she married Eugene Hartmann and took the name of Maria Hartmann. During the past two years she kept improving the technique and gradually found her own style, and started developing her amazing collection of crosses, frames and boxes.
